Workshops and Trainings

Dr. Patricia McGuire

Dr. Patricia McGuire is a board certified developmental and behavioral pediatrician with over 25 years of experience. She has had her own practice, Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics, in Cedar Rapids for 16 years, focusing on helping families and children with developmental and behavioral challenges work together and understand the challenges they face. Dr. McGuire has had several articles published in regional parenting magazines as well as publishing her first book, Never Assume: Getting To Know Children Before Labeling Them. She is a presenter for PESI, doing professional seminars and workshops on developmental and mental health topics. She is also a presenter for Kirkwood Community College, doing continuing education workshops.

Dr. McGuire is able to present on a wide range of developmental and behavioral topics. If there is a specific topic you would like covered please let us know and we will see if we can accomodate your need. Dr. McGuire is also able to make the length of the presentation as long as you need it. Here are some topics that Dr. McGuire is able speak on;

Amber Cook, MT-BC

Amber Cook is a Board-Certified Music Therapist. She graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree and a major in Music Therapy. Amber's music therapy experience includes several clinical training opportunities and a seven-month internship program in Troy, NY. Amber is affiliated with the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and Midwest Region Music Therapy Association. Amber has been working as the Music Therapist for Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics for 4 years. She recently completed training for Level 1 ABA and Infancy and Early Childhood Training dealing with FloorTime and the DIR method.

Amber is available for trainings and workshops throughout Eastern Iowa. If you are interested in having Amber present to your group please contact Maureen or Amber at (319) 365-1006 or maureen@springtides.org or amber@springtides.org for more information and regarding fees and availability.

Amber is able to present on a wide range of music therapy topics as well as how to work with children with developmental and behavioral challenges. All workshops are approximately 1 1/2 hours long. Below is a list of some of Amber's past workshops;
