Sprintides, Inc. was founded in November of 2000 by Patricia McGuire, MD, FAAP in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Our mission is to promote an excellent quality of life for youth.
Our mission is based on our core beliefs of;
1. All youth deserve to be treated with love, acceptance, and respect.
2. Adults must be provided with the education necessary to provide that love, acceptance, and respect.

To provide knowledge and support to those who work and live with youth experiencing developmental and behavioral challenges.

Springtides, Inc. is available for consulting contracts, workshops, and linking schools to trainers in the MSL reading approaches. We adapt materials and methods from Slingerland, Orton-Gillingham, and Lindamood-Bell in our MSL reading training courses.
Springtides is always interested in collaboration with other organizations working with children (and their families) with developmental and behavioral challenges. It currently has collaborations with The Iowa Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health, the Iowa Branch of the International Dyslexia Association, and the Scottish Rite Temple of Cedar Rapids.
What is Developmental and Behavioral Pediatric (DBP)?
DBP is a subspecialty of pediatrics which aims to foster understanding and promotion of optimal development of children and families through research, education, clinical care, and advocacy efforts. DBP focuses equal attention on the biological, psychological, and social influences on-and effects of- children's development in the emotional, social, motor, language, and cognitive domains. Prevention and early intervention are central tothe field. Children's behavior and developmental progress are viewed as inseparable from the contexts of children's families, schools, and communities.
